We left for Martha's Vineyard on Monday after checking the weather forecast to be sure of fair winds and calm seas. However, the weather forecasters were apparently not in touch with the weather gods since what we encountered shortly after leaving Mattapoisett Harbor was better described as "small craft advisory" winds and 4 to 6 foot seas. It was a little better in Vineyard Sound, after passing through Wood's Hole and we enjoyed a speedy beam reach with favorable tides for the last hour of the ride to Vineyard Haven. The tour of the Vineyard included Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluff and Edgartown.
